Korea to relax institutional investor regulations

Korea’s financial regulator has confirmed that it is widening the scope of businesses able to access the country’s capital markets.

Financial Services Commission (FSC) spokesperson, Ernst Lee told IFLR the regulator was drafting revisions to capital-markets laws. The  amendments, which will require approval by the National Assembly, may be submitted as early as June.

They will include the introduction of ‘Korean-style’ hedge funds before the end of the year, Lee confirmed. But issues regarding leverage...
