HK counsel call for US-style regulatory model

Lawyers in Hong Kong have called for the introduction of a US-style market-driven regulatory incentive model.

Standard Chartered’s Asia head of group listings, Bill Wang, said Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) needed to embrace a more market-driven model than the city’s current unilateral regulatory framework. This would ensure adequate internalisation and sponsor compliance with the spirit of regulatory requirements and procedures.
