EU directive will push Asian funds regulation

As EU ministers pledged support for the Alternative Investment Funds Management (AIFM) directive on Tuesday, Asian regulators are preparing their funds for greater regulation.

Last month, Singapore announced new licensing requirements for its fund managers. As IFLR reported, the planned regime was broadly welcomed by the industry for its moderation – but it could pave the way for further rules.
