New SEC head will ramp up enforcement

Mary Schapiro, CEO of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, has been nominated as successor to SEC Chairman Christopher Cox by Barack Obama.

Lawyers resoundingly approved the choice. "She brings experience from The Street and from Washington, from the SEC and the commodities markets, and each side of the political aisle," said John Olson, partner at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.
