Clifford Chance stepped up another gear in 2006, and was involved on innovative deals across the board. The firm was nominated for a remarkable five deal categories, and was especially dominant in both debt and equity-linked and M&A. Yet again, its lawyers tackled some of the year's most difficult deals and were praised by in-house clients for their fresh approach in often challenging circumstances.

Highlights in debt and equity included Sarawak's monoline wrapped bond, (acting for Sarawak) and for the issuer and obligor on Khazanah's world first Islamic exchangeable bond. While the firm sharpened its focus on China, it was still involved in Softbanks's acquisition of Vodafone Japan, as well as 3i Group and Khazanah Nasional Berhad...
