Masakazu Kumagai

Masakazu is a partner at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto. His practice focuses primarily on M&A (both public and private) and equity capital markets (including private investments in public equity and other private placement deals), as well as private equity fund formations.

Leveraging his creative thinking through a broad range of expertise, Masakazu has extensive experience in handling complex, interdisciplinary transactions. He is fluent in Japanese and English, and is actively involved in cross-border transactions, which enables him to apply his creativity in considering how and to what extent foreign clients’ needs (often influenced by the law and practice unique to their home jurisdictions) can be achieved under Japanese law and practice.

Masakazu graduated with a law degree from the University of Tokyo and an LLM from the University of Chicago Law School. He is admitted to practice in Japan and New York.
