Lorena Charalambous has been at the firm since 2011 and was promoted to partner in January 2020. She works from the firm’s Limassol office and is part of the banking and finance and corporate and commercial team of the firm.
Lorena has extensive experience in banking and finance transactions, representing clients in international leveraged acquisition financings, asset-based financings, project finance and general bank lending, often instructed by magic circle firms. She also specializes in corporate and commercial law matters, including joint ventures, corporate restructurings and M&A and also provides advice and support to private clients on international tax planning, tax optimization as well as inheritance matters. Lorena has served for a number of years on the board of directors of a regulated Alternative Investment Fund Manager as an independent non-executive director and is also an approved Insolvency Practitioner, licensed by the Cyprus Bar Association.
Lorena is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association, the Limassol Bar Association and the International Bar Association.
- Advised the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development together with a syndicate of Czech credit institutions on the €140M financing of the investment group Cimex, which is behind the OREA Hotels & Resorts hotel chain.
- We have been appointed by Astrobank Public Company Limited to act as Trustee for and on behalf of the bondholders under its bond issuance programme of up to €250M.
- Advised a syndicate of Romanian lenders, consisting of RAIFFEISEN BANK S.A., UniCredit Bank S.A., Banca Comerciala Romana S.A., ING Bank NV Amsterdam Bucharest Branch, and OTP Bank Romania S.A. in the €127M financing provided to the Green Group, being one of the largest green financings in the recycling sector.
