Biography

Kimathi Kuenyehia is an award winning Harvard-educated transactional lawyer who is ranked by Legal 500 as one of the top 5 leading lawyers in Ghana. Kimathi enjoys the distinct reputation as the go-to lawyer for many of Ghana’s large, complex and demanding transactions. His clients include foreign governments, Fortune 500 companies and global multinationals.

Kimathi is the first person to win the International Bar Association Outstanding Young Lawyer Award and named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.  Kimathi is currently writing a book on Corporate Law and Practice in Ghana.

Recent transactional highlights

Advising the United States Government and the Millennium Challenge Corporation on the implementation of the 498.2 million US Dollars US Government compact grant to the Ghana Government to help resolve its electricity challenges.;

Advised the Ecowas Development Bank (EBID), Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and Fidelity Bank Limited to provide a 100 million US Dollar facility to the Volta River Authority in relation to the US$900 million Kpone IPP Project: a 350MW combined cycle gas project;

Advising Asanko Gold Inc. and its subsidiaries in Ghana in relation to the 320 million US Dollar project finance deal to develop 2 gold projects located in Ghana.
