Established in 1986, Abrahams Davidson & Co remains one of the leading law firms in Brunei. The firm’s core practice areas are corporate, commercial, banking and finance, and property development. Managing partner Bernard Tan wins praise from clients and peers as a steady, knowledgeable and experienced practitioner who frequently leads the firm’s key cases and deals. Suan Chin Tan is another key partner for real estate, and banking and finance.

A regular feature as an elite firm in the country, CCW Partnership has expertise in corporate and M&A, regulatory, banking and dispute resolution. Harold Ng Hann Jaun is the key partner for corporate and banking. On Hung Zheng is the key partner for dispute resolution. The firm has been active on local investments, share sales, restructurings and asset financings.

Cheok Advocates & Solicitors has been noted by peers to be active in the disputes area, in addition to its banking and corporate transactions. Last year, the firm has kept busy with international corporate work, deepening its expertise in the media, marketing, pharmaceuticals and financial securities sectors. Managing partner Robin Cheok Van Kee is a well-known name. He leads the firm along with partner Christina Lim Li Hui. 

Eponymous founder Colin Ong runs a regional practice that operates across six countries outside Brunei. The King’s Counsel frequently works on disputes matters in Singapore and Hong Kong, and he has chambers in the UK. Locally, the firm’s practice areas cover corporate, finance, intellectual property, and dispute resolution in different sectors. Managing partner Shiao Hui Koh leads key transactions. 

HEP Law is the Brunei arm of Singapore law firm Harry Elias Partnership, and it has been present in the market for nearly a decade. The firm is able to leverage its transactional expertise thanks to its Singapore parent and has been deepening its Bruneian footprint in recent years. The firm sits on the legal advisory panels of numerous government-linked companies and ministries and is regularly involved in the development of key government projects. Corporate and commercial partner Roslyna Latif is one of the main contacts.
