Zhang Jiping is a seasoned practitioner. He is the managing partner of Haiwen & Partners and the head of Haiwen & Partners’ M&A team. With prior experience working at US law firms, Zhang has become an expert in handling M&A, foreign direct investment, capital markets, and project financing mandates.
In the past year, Zhang has been active in high-profile cross border M&A transactions, including acting as the PRC counsel to Hillhouse Capital in its EUR 3.5 billion acquisition of Philips DA, which is the leading global player in domestic appliances.
Jiping has also been active in the capital markets area, where he advised companies on their overseas listing in Hong Kong SAR and others. Representative transactions include acting as the PRC counsel to underwriters of Baidu in its HKD 23.6 billion second listings on the main board of HKEX. Most recently, Zhang advised the coordinator and joint bookrunner to Gotion High-tech, as one of the first Chinese companies to issue global depository receipts (GDRs) and list on the Swiss Stock Exchange.
