Jukka Laitasalo

Jukka Laitasalo is a partner at Merilampi Marttila Laitasalo Law Offices in Helsinki. Laitasalo's key practice areas are banking and finance, mergers & acquisitions, arbitration and litigation, corporate law and insolvency.

In addition to representing major Finnish and foreign clients in transactional, arbitration and litigation matters Laitasalo has on several occasions been appointed member or chairman of the Finnish arbitration court.

Laitasalo is acting as one of the joint liquidators of the Finnish insurance company Kansa Group and is one of the administrators of the formerly government-owned Skopbank, which was put into voluntary winding-up proceedings in 1998. Laitasalo is the chairman of the Ethical Board of the Finnish Bar Association.

Ari Keinänen

Ari Keinänen has been a partner of Merilampi Marttila Laitasalo Law Offices since 1992. Keinänen's key practice areas are mergers & acquisitions, capital markets, corporate law and banking. He has represented and advised a number of national and international corporate clients and listed companies on a wide range of transactions, including, in particular, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and capital markets transactions.

In 1992 the Finnish Ministry of Justice appointed Keinänen as an external legal secretary of the committee which drew up an overall reform of the Finnish Companies Act and put this proposal to the Finnish government. Keinänen recently prepared the Finnish report to the 2002 International Federation for European Law congress in London, which dealt with cross border mergers and company law and hostile take-over bids. He has been practising as a lawyer since 1987.

Ilkka Aalto-Setälä

White & Case LLP

Ilkka Aalto-Setälä is the head of the competition law practice at White & Case's Helsinki office. He graduated from the Turku University Faculty of Law in 1994 and was admitted to the Finnish Bar in 1999. He began his career in 1995 working for the Finnish Competition Authority until 1997 and in 1996 worked for the European Commission's Merger Task Force as a national expert. From 1997 to 2002 he worked for Roschier Holmberg, Attorneys. His recent experience includes the strategic planning of the competition law aspects of a number of significant Finnish corporate transactions.

Ilkka Aalto-Setälä has advised numerous domestic and foreign clients in transactions and co-operation arrangements with respect to, among others, digital transmission, portals and mobile banking, and has handled a large number of merger notifications to the Finnish Competition Authority and to the European Commission. He also litigates on a regular basis before Finland's Market Court and Supreme Administrative Court and before the European Commission. Ilkka Aalto-Setälä regularly publishes and lectures on competition law issues.


Tanja Rekola

Tanja Rekola is a senior associate in the Helsinki office of White & Case. She graduated from Helsinki University's Faculty of Law in 1997 and was admitted to the Finnish Bar in 2001. Before joining White & Case in 1997, Rekola worked for the Merger Task Force of the European Commission as a trainee. Her main areas of practice include finance and capital markets as well as cross-border M&A transactions with a special focus on, among other things, competition law. She has handled a large number of merger notifications to the Finnish Competition Authority and coordinated multi-jurisdictional merger notifications.

Irina Mikkola

Irina Mikkola joined Waselius & Wist in 1999 after obtaining her LL.B. from the London School of Economics and Political Science in the same year. In 2001 Irina Mikkola finished the EEA Recognition of Qualification Programme at the University of Helsinki and in 2002 she received her LL.M. in Contract and Commercial Law from the University of Helsinki.
