Exclusive: Myanmar to dramatically lower Telco costs with satellite launch

Myanmar is coordinating a planned satellite launch with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in a bid to significantly lower spiraling mobile phone costs. But analysts are skeptical the approach will be successful.
The high cost of mobile phone use has long been a gripe of those living and working in Myanmar, with calling cards for one hour of calls currently costing $20 and sim card installation fees a staggering $200.
