A new night to celebrate

Despite the best efforts of Iceland's volcanoes, April saw the launch of India's very first dedicated law awards ceremony. On April 22 at the Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi, the finest minds in India's legal profession gathered for the first time to toast each other's achievements. In keeping with all of IFLR's awards, our India event employed the magazine's respected, rigorous research methodology.

Counsel had to structure Sterlite's US-style convertible bond in a way that would work under the Indian regulatory regime. The first-ever convertible security offered by an Indian issuer in the US contained an innovative feature to address the absolute minimum conversion price that Indian law imposes on convertible securities.
