Sinopec rounds off bumper year for Chinese offerings

Chinese firm Haiwen & Partners has completed a full house of the year's significant Chinese privatizations with its role on the Sinopec offering. China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation, otherwise known as Sinopec, raised $3.47 billion through a global offering.

The deal (along with China Mobile, which is yet to launch, see page 9) wraps up the leading Chinese offerings for 2000. The other two deals were China Unicom and PetroChina. Underwriters Morgan Stanley chose the same team as they had used for the China Unicom deal: Davis Polk, Slaughter and May, and Commerce and Finance. Simmons & Simmons were also used...
