IFLR: What do you think were the most interesting results of the Poll?

“When you go back to the regulator on investigations, they are slightly surprised that you’re asking questions”

Paul Browne, Simmons & Simmons: On certain questions, such as those looking at the global and Asian regulatory response, it seems that there isn't a huge amount of consensus. But this isn't a great surprise. We're in the midst of a transition, and although people are increasingly optimistic, there still isn't clarity over how the regulatory landscape will look in 12 months. That clarity is arriving steadily, month by month.

But elsewhere there are one or two slight surprises. In terms of due diligence on counterparties, a healthy 73% of bankers' counsel say that they are doing more, but I'm surprised about the 27% that aren't – particularly in Asia and particularly considering what's happened over the past two years.
