FSA's new head of wholesale; Maples and Carey Olsen join forces; Mayer Brown merges with Johnson Stokes

Europe and the Middle East Maples and Calder and Carey Olsen have agreed on a cooperative arrangement over offshore legal work. The agreement means that the firms can offer their existing clients services in the other firm's jurisdictions. Maples and Calder will send its clients' work in Jersey and Guernsey to Carey Olsen and the Channel Islands firm will refer its work in the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands. As part of this "best friends" relationship, Maples and Calder will cease to practise Jersey law. Its existing clients on the island will be taken over by Carey Olsen....
